The Argument Against Nationalized Healthcare

The idea of a nationalized healthcare system has been around for a long time, and like most other social ideas, it sounds good when you first hear it. Healthcare for everyone in the United States would be a dream come true for lots of families but the problems with universal healthcare far outweigh the benefits. Many countries have tried this and failed because of some basic ideas that aren’t even being considered. Continue reading

Combating The Stigma Of Mental Illness

[src:’http://www.youtube.com/v/WUaXFlANojQ’,width:’425′,height:’350′]
Mental Illness…
That sounds bad, doesn’t it? it sounds like someone is crazy or
retarded, maybe just plain weak-minded. You are depressed?
Snap out of it! Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? Hey! It’s over. It’s
in the past! Get over it! Bi-Polar? That’s just an excuse for bad
behavior. Scizophrenic? Get a hold of yourself, there’s nothing
wrong with you!
The mark of shame has been on mental illness for far too long.
This is due to misconceptions about the types of mental illness.
Knowledge is the key to erasing this stigma. Psychiatrists have
started a campaign to combat these prejudices.
There are six common mental illness, which are panic attacks,
dementia, eating disorders, depression, schizophrenia and
addiction to drugs or alcohol. People with any of these disorders
need understanding and compassion, not hostility and
disapproval. When patients receive negative reactions, it drives
them further into their problem.
Not all drug addicts, schizophrenics and alcoholics are violent,
even though that misconception is held by a large majority of
people. With the lack of education for the general public, many
think that a severely depressed person will be able to pull
themselves out of this problem on their own. On the other hand,
the majority of the public think that those suffering from
dementia, depression, schizophrenia, panic attacks and addictions
cannot be helped with treatment.
World Mental Health Day is on October 10th and the focus will be
on mental illnesses and human rights. The campaign to erase the
stigma from mental illness focuses on providing information on
types of treatments offered through self-help groups and
psychotherapy. They are attempting to lift the public’s awareness
of the types of mental illness that are the most common. It is the
desire of the psychiatrists to not only reduce the stigma, but to
allow those affected to have dignity and the same rights others
enjoy.

The Illegal Invasion Of America

>> This is a good one!!!!!!!!!!! This came from a Newsmax.com story. I inserted a article from the Tucson Citizen from Jan 16, 2009. If you think something needs to be done about illegal immigration please read.

> The shoe is on the other foot and the Mexicans from Sonora don’t like it. Can you believe the nerve of these people? It’s almost funny.

> State of Sonora is angry at Influx of Mexicans into Mexico. Nine state legislators from the Mexican state of Sonora traveled to Tucson to complain about Arizona ‘s new employer crackdown on illegals from Mexico . It seems that many Mexican illegals are now returning to their hometowns and the officials in the Sonora state government are ticked off about it. A delegation of nine state legislators from Sonora was in Tucson on Tuesday to say Arizona’s new employer sanctions law will have a devastating effect on the Mexican state.

> At a news conference, the legislators said Sonora – Arizona’s southern neighbor, made up of mostly small towns – cannot handle the demand for housing, jobs and schools it will face as illegal Mexican workers here return to their hometowns without jobs or money. The law, which took effect Jan.1, punishes employers who knowingly hire individuals who don’t have valid legal documents to work in the United States. Penalties include suspension of, or loss of, their business license. The Mexican legislators are angry because their own citizens are returning to their hometowns, placing a burden on their state government.

> ‘How can they pass a law like this?’ asked Mexican Rep. Leticia Amparano-Gamez, who represents Nogales . ‘There is not one person living in Sonora who does not have a friend or relative working in Arizona ,’ she said, speaking only in Spanish. ‘Mexico is not prepared for this, for the tremendous problems it will face as more and more Mexicans working in Arizona and sending money to their families return to hometowns in Sonora without jobs,’ she said. ‘We are one family, socially and economically,’ she said of the people of Sonora and Arizona.

Why Raise The Debt Ceiling?

[src:’http://youtu.be/OqWB1TrvYJM’,width:’100′,height:’100′]

The ANNUAL, interest alone will be in excess of $100,000,000,000.

After being unemployed for the past two years as a direct result of the actions and decisions of America’s ruler, Barak Hussein Obama, I finally got some work. That’s why I haven’t been writing for a couple of weeks. (It’s easier to write steadily on a blog when you don’t have a job to go to.) Sometimes, however, something comes up that makes you forget about the weird hours you are working and how tired you are after spending your day working in the sun. It makes you stop and pay attention when you hear something on the radio that will effect your life and the lives of your family, your children, your grand children and maybe even their grand children. It makes you angry when the people you hired to do a job have turned against your best interests to serve their own interests. Let’s get into details…

With a debt ceiling of 14 trillion, he wants to make it 16 trillion

I, and millions of others, voted for conservative Congressmen and Senators and sent them to Washington to do a job. Their job was to stop the outrageous spending and bring some fiscal sense and responsibility back to the government of our country. Many freshman Congressmen and women were elected on a platform of cutting taxes, cutting spending and smaller government. Some of them are working hard toward that goal… others are fraternizing with the enemy, thinking they need to go along to get along.

Socialism has only been a failure all around the world because the right people weren’t in charge…

Some are running scared of the liberals in the congress and senate. They are afraid that if the United States has our credit rating lowered, the blame will go to the Republicans for causing the downgrade. They are afraid they won’t get re-elected if that happens. (Democrats and their minions in the media will certainly try to blame them)

Wrong Answer.

If they fold and capitulate, fail to hold the line against this socialist administration, fail to do what we, the people, elected them to do, they will not be re-elected by the people who voted for them in 2010.

Karl Marx… Obama’s Inspiration

The blame, in truth, falls squarely on the shoulders of the man who wanted to “fundamentally change America”. He has been successful in his goal. Unprecedented unemployment, aggressive and progressive tax hikes (as recommended in “The Communist Manifesto”), seizure of banks and industries, proclaiming that the free market, the market that made America the greatest nation in the world, is the enemy, is definitely a fundamental changing of America. The people who create jobs are demonized, while the people who don’t really want jobs are given a free ride. While 50% of Americans now pay no taxes, those who make 200K or more per year are demonized and labelled as “Millionaires and Billionaires” and have to carry the entire tax burden. (My daughter’s business grossed a little over 300K last year, but that supports her immediate family and the families of her employees. She and her husband are nowhere near being millionaires)

OK…

So Obama and the Democrats want to raise the debt ceiling by another two trillion dollars. Why?

Just looking back over the past couple of years, the reason is obvious… it is solely for the purpose of digging America deeper into debt and “fundamentally changing” America. The deeper in debt he can put America, the weaker he makes America in the world. He has said in the past that there is nothing special about America and that America has been arrogant. I believe that anyone who wants to be the President of the United States of America should at least LIKE America. He should also have, at least a small idea about economics. No one has ever borrowed and spent their way out of debt. He wants to raise the debt ceiling so he can borrow more and continue to spend, and the more he spends, the more burden is placed on future generations. The debt will never be paid off in ANY of our lifetimes.

Now up over 12 million jobs have disappeared the past 2 years

When the leadership of this country has no desire, whatsoever, to pay off the national debt, when all income to the government goes to more spending instead of balancing the budget, when all they want to do is borrow more and use the money to buy votes, then it is time to get rid of those leaders. Thomas Jefferson said that there should be a revolution at least every twenty years or so to keep government from becoming too powerful and corrupt. I say the revolution is long passed due. I’m not talking about grabbing guns and torches and pitchforks and heading for Washington. I’m talking about a revolution at the ballot box in 2012. Check the voting record of your Congressmen and Senators before you go to the polls. (Do a Google search. Enter the person’s name plus the words “voting record”) If your Congressman or Senator voted to raise your taxes, voted to put America deeper into debt, voted for special interests instead of the voter’s interest, VOTE THEM OUT!

Remember: Capitalism may be the unequal distribution of wealth, but socialism is the equal distribution of poverty, and socialism is running rampant in our government.

Second Amendment Rant

Second Amendment Rant
Posted 4/10/2011 @ 2:11:20 pm by rainboreview.com

Small | Medium | Large

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

(The Second Amendment to the US Constitution)

So… what does this mean to you and me and the average American citizen? It means that you, as a citizen, have a right to own and use firearms, for defense of your self and family, to hunt for food and to help, with your neighbors, be the last line of defense in the event of another nation attacking our own.

Although positioned second in the bill of rights, this right to keep and bear arms is actually first among equals. Without this right, we wouldn’t have the others and we would still be subject to the rule of the monarchy in England. Yes, if there had been “gun control” back in 1776 the citizens and patriots of the time would not have had the means to secure our freedom.

Oppressive regimes throughout just the past century have first sought to find and remove weapons from the hands of the citizenry before making radical change and oppressing the people.

Check out these facts…

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
——————————

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
——————————

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
——————————

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
——————————

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
——————————

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
——————————

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
__________

Before WWII started, Hilter explained why he made it illegal for Jews to have guns and why he had to confiscate them….

“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing.”

– Adolf Hitler

(Another quote, many people like to reference and attribute to Hitler is the following:

This year will go down in history! For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!

As dramatic as it seems, It has been proven to be bogus.)

(Just something to think about. You may not want a gun in your house, but you might be glad you neighbor has one in his.)

Again, why the controversy?

Liberals in politics almost invariably want to restrict gun ownership among the citizens. They say that guns cause crime or that you are more likely to shoot yourself or a family member if you have a gun in your home. Each time there is a shooting or a mass killing, they stand in front of the TV cameras and cry that we need more gun control. Even worse is when they say they want to outlaw all guns in the country, sure that taking guns out of the hands of citizens would end gun violence.

Every statistic proves them to be fools.

A few more facts…

Fact: The murder rates in many nations were ALREADY LOW BEFORE enacting gun control. Thus, their restrictive laws cannot be credited with lowering their crime rates.

Fact: Gun control has done nothing to keep crime rates from rising in many of the nations that have imposed severe firearms restrictions.

* Australia: Readers of the USA Today newspaper discovered in 2002 that, “Since Australia’s 1996 laws banning most guns and making it a crime to use a gun defensively, armed robberies rose by 51%, unarmed robberies by 37%, assaults by 24% and kidnappings by 43%. While murders fell by 3%, manslaughter rose by 16%.”

* Canada: After enacting stringent gun control laws in 1991 nd 1995, Canada has not made its citizens any safer. “The contrast between the criminal violence rates in the United States and in Canada is dramatic,” says Canadian criminologist Gary Mauser in 2003. “Over the past decade, the rate of violent crime in Canada has increased while in the United States the violent crime rate has plummeted.”

* England: According to the BBC News, handgun crime in the United Kingdom rose by 40% in the two years after it passed its draconian gun ban in 1997

So… Either the left wants to oppress or slaughter a group of people they don’t like, or they want our crime rate to rise so we can keep up with the rest of the world. What do YOU think? Continue reading

Bush VS. Obama On Spending

Bush VS. Obama On Spending
Posted 3/16/2011 @ 9:38:39 am by rainboreview.com

Small | Medium | Large
Was George W. Bush the “Barak Obama” of the Republican Party?

When it comes to spending, no president has set about spending more than our current resident of the White House, Barak Hussein Obama. In his first sixty days in office, Obama spent more than every president from George Washington to George W. combined. But who, was the number one money spender among the Republican presidents? George Walker Bush.

Far from being a fiscal conservative Republicans expected, Bush went on a spending spree that shocked most Republicans. Republicans in the House and Senate went along with him because he was “Our Guy”, but it was the Democrats that went on an 8 year long “Hate Bush” campaign funded by communist billionaire, George Soros.

Democrat politicians and Hollywood celebrities would get in front of media cameras and declare that Bush is stupid, dumb, Illegitimate, he should be impeached, hung, shot, imprisoned, lynched and he just has no idea what he’s doing. (Those were the Nice things they said). Meanwhile the Republicans were saying in private that he’s spending like a Democrat and he doesn’t know what he’s doing. (And those were the nice things They said.) When it comes to spending, George Bush was the Barak Obama of the Republican party.

During his eight years in office, President Bush oversaw a large increase in government spending. In fact, he increased government spending more than any of the six presidents preceding him, including LBJ. In his last term in office, President Bush increased discretionary outlays by an estimated 48.6 percent. Also during his eight years in office, Bush spent almost twice as much as his predecessor, Bill Clinton. Adjusted for inflation, in eight years, President Clinton increased the federal budget by 11 percent. In eight years, President Bush increased it by a whopping 104 percent.

David Axelrod, an Obama strategist, argued that George W. Bush is responsible for Barack Obama’s deficits. He argued that Bush forced the hand of this administration by leaving office in the midst of a sharp recession. That argument won’t fly for two reasons. First, at some point this administration has to take responsibility for it’s own actions. It’s also not even close to accurate. Consider that from Jan. 20, 2001, to Jan. 20, 2009, the debt held by the public grew $3 trillion under Bush—From $3.3 trillion to 6.3 trillion at a time when the national economy grew as well.

By comparison, from the day Obama took office to the end of the current fiscal year, according to the Office of Management and Budget, the debt held by the public grew by $3.3 trillion. In 20 months, Barak Obama added as much debt as George Bush ran up in eight years. Obama’s spending plan, approved by Congress last February calls for doubling the national debt in five years and nearly tripling it in 10.

From The Congressional Budget Office

The Obama administration has been on history’s biggest spending spree, which has included a $787 billion stimulus, a $30 billion expansion of a child health-care program, and a $410 billion federal spending bill that increased nondefense discretionary spending 10% for the last half of fiscal year 2009. Then he hiked nondefense discretionary spending another 12% for fiscal year 2010. Add on H.R. 1745, Family Health Care Accessibility Act of 2010 and the numbers are out of sight.

Whoever you point your finger at for the responsibility of America’s financial situation, it is clear that past 10 years, 8 with Bush and the past 2 with Obama, the spending has been unprecidented. As bad as it has been so far, it is scheduled to be much worse in the next 2 to 6 years with Obama alone. Be assured however, that if Obama wins the office for a second term, he will still be trying to blame Bush for anything that goes wrong.

Social Network Conversations

I was going through one of the social network sites yesterday and saw this strange comment:

“There are countless demented Republicans still trying to outlaw sex.”

I just had to reply to such a strange comment.

“I don’t know of any of my fellow Republicans that want to outlaw sex. Have you been getting all your information from Move On dot Org and the daily Kook? Careful… that’ll rot your brain and turn you into a liber… Oops! Too late!”

“Oh brother, come on.. Stand back and look at all the different groups lined up under that Republican banner.”

“Are you talking about the lunatics that nobody claims? Like the God Hates Fags church and the Koo Koo Klucks? Nobody claims them so the democrats claim that WE own them to make us look bad. The KKK was started by and is populated with democrats, it has been from the beginning. And the Westboro church full of inbred welfare bums will be voting democrat next election just like the elections before. (They want to keep their entitlements coming so they have time to run around protesting soldier funerals and screaming about their knowledge of what God thinks). They may be lined up under the Republican banner, not because WE accept them but because YOU put them there with the help of the media. They will still be voting for your team, no matter where you place them.

alleged rights lined republican banner accepted media voting team

Not one of ours…

Then his tone seemed to change for a moment, but only for a moment…

“Look, I’m thinking you have the sides mixed up. I am the good valiant highly principled underdog good guy, a democrat fighting for human rights, a humanitarian, egalitarian, modern liberal strong man with a broad back, Fighting back against you, who is representing Corporate Libertarian Globalists, anti social anti humanists, whose apparent goals are a country grossly divided between the fabulously wealthy and the grinding poor, and are allied with religious fundamentalists etc. of various types to gain voting numbers. I don’t recall ever mentioning the KKK or Westboro or the Nazi Party. I was not thinking of them. Sorry you thought I did.
I made a comment about many Republicans trying to ‘outlaw’ sex. Maybe they just believe in misery?

It would have been more correct to say, many people with anti sexual views happen to be Republicans, more so than Democrats. And these anti sexual Republicans are pushing abstinence and other stifling ideas on the kids through the schools. While at the same time trying to outlaw abortion. While ending social programs to help lower income families with children. While keeping a national policy, of the banks, of constant high unemployment, and lowest possible wages and benfits for the working class.
Misery, right?

BTW, just to cause more confusion, I am a registered Republican, voted for Nixon, and never wavered.”

That definitely required an answer…

“And these anti sexual Republicans are pushing abstinence and other stifling ideas on the kids through the schools”

So… how young do you want the kids to start having sex , making babies and spreading STDs? I don’t know anyone who is anti-sex, but most people I know are FOR responsible sex between adults and preferably married. The more you say it’s all O.K., the more of those unwed welfare babies we’ll get. More uneducated teenagers dropping out of school to take care of their babies and becoming a burden on society. Is that what you are promoting? If you’re not talking about the groups I mentioned, then what groups are you talking about? What is a Corporate Libertarian Globalist? Something made up by move on dot org or the daily kook? Is that something you can find in the phone book or just something you pulled out of your back side?

PS: We’re not anti-human or anti-social but we are anti-socialist and I, personally am anti-entitlement. In order for the government to give all that money out to social welfare programs to keep the welfare bums voting democrat, they have to forcefully take it from productive Americans. Are you telling me that these parasites are entitled to what YOU earn and worked for? In the past, families, friends and community would pitch in, in a charitable way to help those in need. Now them government forces you to give, through oppressive taxation, so there is no charity in the giving. Even after being heavily taxed, Republicans still give more to charity than democrats do. I have been unemployed since September 2009 and still gave over 6K to charity in 2010. (No, I don’t collect welfare, food stamps, unemployment checks or any other entitlement)

How much did multi-millionaire democrat Nancy Pelosi and her cronies give? Or Barak Obama, or Geitner, or Frank, or any of dozens of other democrat millionaire politicians? Proportionally, not even half of what I gave. Democrats are the “nice” party that “gives” to the poor, but they are only charitable with other people’s money, which they tax from people who earned it to give to those who didn’t earn it. Big Brother Government becomes the savior of the parasites and the parasites keep voting democrat to keep it coming.

As screwed up as America may have become with oppressive taxation and entitlements, it is still far superior to any socialist regime on the planet.”

So far he hasn’t responded to that, but I can’t wait to see if he does.

Good-Bye, Robert

Good-Bye, Robert
Posted 3/7/2011 @ 3:07:35 pm by rainboreview.com

Small | Medium | Large

Superbowl Sunday my step-father, Robert Woodard Dotson, passed on from this world. It was expected, he had been ill for quite a time with failing kidneys, but that doesn’t really lessen the impact on the lives of those left behind. His wife of 40 years is my mother, and her strong faith in God has helped her tremendously through this time. At first she was glad that he had left all his pain behind and is now with Jesus in Heaven. Then she looked at her situation and got a little angry. She is the older of the two and should have been the first to die. She thinks it is unfair that he got to Heaven before her.

Robert and “Red”

About a year or so after they were married, I went into the Army and never really got to know Robert that well. My sister got married the same year and was gone, but my little brother was only four at the time. My brother got to know him best as a parent and called him Dad. He raised my brother as if he were his own and loved him. After moving to Kentucky and getting settled in, events occurred that resulted in my grandson being adopted by my mother and Robert, and they raised him as if he were their own, and he loved him.

Robert was riding to work on a bicycle one day and was struck by a truck. Almost dieing on the operating table, he awoke to a new life of disability and had to adjust. My mother was working as a cook at a near-by university, so they had her small pay and his disability check to live on. Still they insured that everyone was fed and clothed and had a decent home in which to live. Times were not always smooth sailing, but the home always had love in abundance.

People would sometimes asked me how I feel about him and I would always reply that he was good to my mother and my family, so he’s alright with me. in my rebellious youth, in that year or so before I entered the Army we had our moments, and I gave him some headaches, but all being said and done, he was alright with me. Come to think of it , among all us kids, I believe my sister is the only one of us that didn’t get into troubles and cause him headaches.

Looking back at my life, I’m sorry about that.

Later, when I was in the Army and would come home on leave, he would loan me a car to use, and later co-signed for a loan so I could get a vehicle of my own. Although I didn’t act like it most of the time, he still treated me as his son and loved me in spite of myself.

When I got the call from my brother that Robert has passed on, I informed my wife and we drove to Kentucky for the wake and the funeral. My wife, Ok Cha, is deaf and knew Robert even less than I did, but he always tried to communicate with her even though many people never even try. She appreciated that and was very sad that he had died. As soon as we entered the house, she cried and embraced my mother. No other communication or interpreting was needed.

People would come to the house and bring food and talk about Robert, the man I realized I really didn’t know. I got to learn more about him from the people who knew him from daily contact and from his church. My Aunt is the pastor of the church and her son, Brian is the associate pastor. Together they would do the eulogy and funeral service at the funeral home and the graveside service at the cemetery.

Most everyone was already there who was going to be, but there was still the question of my two step-brothers making the trip. One in Tennessee and the other in North Dakota. Winter blizzards were covering most of the northern part of the country so we didn’t have much hope of Robert’s sister, Lillian coming in from Iowa or son Wesley coming in from North Dakota. The evening My wife and I arrived, the snow came falling, but we got the news anyway that Wesley and Dwight would both be arriving later that night. The bigger surprise was that Robert’s sister, Lillian would be arriving with her son. I hadn’t seen the boys for 40 years or more and I had never met Lillian.

At the wake at the funeral home, other relatives from the are would come and I saw people that I hadn’t seen in quite a while. My brother-in-law, Rod, had made a pictorial video about Robert’s family and friends and it was playing over and over on a screen over the coffin. My brother, who had been raised by Robert, kept watching the pictures as they played over and over and he finally lost it and broke down crying. It’s hard to be strong and hold back when someone you love is gone.

Robert and Mary, Newlyweds

The next day was the funeral service. My aunt, Pastor Betty, spent some time giving anecdotes about Bob’s life and loves. He loved God and the church, he loved to eat and he loved Red. “Red” was what he always called my mother, although her red hair has long ago turned to white. Yes, he was a man that loved and was loved. Then Cousin Brian took over and did the actual funeral service, along with a few anecdotes of his own blended in with scripture. Betty and Brian’s words brought to me much of what I had missed about this man’s life, what I had missed by being so distant. Yes, I cried, not for his passing, but for myself all those who are left behind. That’s why we have funerals, to comfort those who are left behind.

I and my brothers and cousins and grandson were pall bearers from the funeral home to the hearse, then from the hearse to the grave site through 10 inches of snow. A second, shorter service was given there by cousin Brian. My cousin, Brent and I are prior military and my grandson, Hugh is in R.O.T.C. We raised the flag from the coffin and folded it in the traditional triangle and gave it to Hugh to present it to my Mother. Robert’s time in the Army was not a career, but it was very meaningful to him.

So we all say good-bye to Robert Woodard Dotson for now with plans to see him again in a better place by and by.

A Tax Rant

Small | Medium | Large

The original tax laws introduced in 1913 were a very simple affair. They began with tax brackets ranging from 1 to 7 percent – a far cry from today’s levels. The IRS tax codes, regulations and guidelines now have well over 9 million words. No wonder there’s so much confusion and no one actually understands the behemoth our tax code has become. Let’s put this into some form of prospective. The Declaration of Independence has a little more than 1300 words. The Constitution which has served us well for more than 200 years comes in around 5000 words and the Holy Bible makes do with less than 800,000 words. The amazing thing to me is that there are Congressmen, Senators and a President who are daily trying to think up more to add to this monster.

Sometimes, even the IRS has a sense of humor… NOT.

There are thousands of tax lawyers across the country pouring over the tax changes and additions each year in order to help their clients. Meanwhile there are thousands of IRS tax lawyers pouring over those same tax changes and additions to be prepared for your audit. If the audit is big, I strongly advise you to retain a tax lawyer for your trip to the auditor’s office.

It seems like this sometimes

The annual tax accounting due on April 15 isn’t the only taxes we encounter in life. From the moment we wake up in the morning we are being hit by taxes. Just think about it…Wake up and turn on the light, electricity taxes, Take a shower, utility taxes. Eat your breakfast, embedded food taxes and then the big one, Gasoline taxes for your commute to work. Make a phone call, telephone taxes. Eat lunch at a cafe, more embedded food taxes and sales tax. There are also taxes on that morning newspaper, the cigarettes at your smoke break, the coffee or soda while you work, Every tool or computer or ink pen you use and taxes on the power to heat or cool your workplace.

Taxes are all around you.

Many people now long for a simple Flat Rate Tax, something we can all understand. There are many countries all over the world who have used this simple to understand and cost effective way of collecting taxes to revitalize their economies. Let’s just imagine for a moment what it would be like if we could complete our tax returns on one simple piece of paper. A Flat Rate Tax for individuals and a Flat Rate Tax for businesses. The same rules apply to all regardless of size of income. We all pay the same rate. Most of the successful countries have levied Flat Rate Taxes of less than 17%, with a starting level that protects the lower income groups.

A survey showed that many Americans would
rather face death than face an audit by the IRS

More and more people are now looking at HR-25, The FairTax. To state it simply, you would never have to file a tax return again. You would get your entire paycheck, without any deductions for Federal Income Tax, FICA, Medicare, Medicaid or whatever. New products in the stores would remain about the same price. A $100.00 blender would still cost you $100.00 but with no sales tax. The receipt would show;

Blender: $77.00,
FairTax: $23.00,
Total: $100.00

Then, to make it even better, everyone gets a Prebate based on the size of your family. Say a family of four would get a deposit of a little over $400.00 at the beginning of each month. This enough to cover the taxes on the basic needs of a household of four for one month. The government would actually make even more money because we are being taxed on what we spend instead of what we earn. The underground economy of thieves, drug dealers, pimps and prostitutes and such would suddenly be taxed. These people don’t pay tax on their income now, but they do buy things with the money they make and that would then be taxed.

Used items, even cars and houses, would not be taxed.

OK, so maybe you can see which system I prefer, The Fairax. But whatever way it goes in the future, remember that people often say death and taxes are the same, but this is wrong. Death is a taxable event, but taxes never die.

You stop by the mailbox after work and thumb through the mail as you walk into the house. A chill runs up your spine as you see the IRS return address on an envelope and there isn’t a check in the window. You are being audited and need some advice.

What now?

How do you respond to this and should you be having a heart attack right about now? While many people lose it as soon as they believe that the IRS is going to be asking for their records and proof, the fact of the matter is that you shouldn’t panic. The best audit advice is to stay calm and gather the information that you need carefully, accurately and without worry. If you have kept a file folder, as I mentioned in a previous blog, then you should have everything at hand.
